Job summary

The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is seeking a policy intern who will work with the director of policy to research and write policy papers, commentaries or articles; and be available to talk about such research to local and national media, community groups and state, county and federal lawmakers.

Qualifications

• Alignment withGrassroot Institute of Hawaii's mission.
• Ability to write well-structured, accurate and readable prose.
• Ability to connect with community contacts for research.
• Ability to reliably commute to downtown Honolulu; remote work possible for the right candidate, but on-site preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general or detailed research as required.
• Assist Institute staff with tasks, projects and events.
• Revise or update research as requested by editorial staff.
• Represent the institute at state and national conferences, as needed.
• Participate in staff calls and leadership team meetings.
• Maintain excellent communication and foster a collaborative working environment with all departments, offices and customers.
• Maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
