Job summary

Jesuit Social Services seeks a General Manager – Policy and Government Engagement to lead how we engage with governments, parliaments and the public service. You will shape the policy work underpinning advocacy, build trusted relationships across the political spectrum and lead a small policy team.

You will coordinate across the organisation to present a single voice, drive submissions and briefings, and ensure our advocacy remains independent of funding.

Qualifications

• Proven track record influencing policy and advocacy
• Strong understanding of parliamentary processes at multiple levels
• Excellent writing and briefing skills
• Experience leading policy or advocacy teams
• Ability to coordinate across an organisation without direct authority

Responsibilities

• Lead government engagement strategy across Commonwealth and state/territory governments.
• Build trusted, non-partisan relationships with ministers and senior officials.
• Turn practice insights into clear policy solutions focused on prevention and systemic change.
• Lead submissions, briefings and policy positions with evidence and lived experience.
• Create opportunities for lived experience voices to engage with decision makers.
• Coordinate advocacy across the organisation and external partners.
