Job summary

Mathematica, Inc. seeks a quantitative researcher to join our policy and data science team. You will conduct rigorous, data-driven analyses, design studies for education and workforce programs, and partner with federal, state, and philanthropic clients.

You will apply causal inference, build and present evidence, and help translate complex methods for practitioners and decision-makers. Ph.D. in a related field preferred; strong coding in R/Python/Stata required; collaboration essential.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in economics, public policy, sociology, education, statistics, data science, or related field; or master's with causal inference experience.
• Strong quantitative skills and training in causal inference.
• Experience programming in R, Python, or Stata.
• Excellent written and oral communication; able to translate methods for policy audiences.
• Ability to work well in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute quantitative studies to support education and workforce policy projects.
• Apply causal inference methods to evaluate programs and interventions.
• Develop data visualizations and briefs for client-facing reports.
• Collaborate with federal, state, and philanthropic partners on evaluation design.
• Present findings to policymakers and practitioners.
