Job summary

Luna Community College in New Mexico seeks a Government and Community Relations Liaison to represent the college with state and local government entities and to support relationships with community partners, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

Reporting to the President and senior leadership, the Liaison helps advance legislative priorities, monitors policy developments, and strengthens external relationships that support Luna's mission and students across the service region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in government relations, public affairs, or community outreach (3+ years).
• Experience with state legislature or state government is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and advance Luna's state/local legislative and governmental priorities.
• Serve as liaison with legislators, legislative staff, state agencies, and officials.
• Monitor state legislative, regulatory, budget, and policy developments, provide updates to leadership.
• Coordinate meetings, campus visits, legislative presentations, and engagement activities.
• Support advocacy for appropriations, capital outlay, policy priorities, and institutional needs.
• Prepare briefing materials, testimony, presentations, talking points, and reports for audiences.
• Maintain relationships with community leaders to advance workforce development and partnerships.
• Represent Luna at governmental/community meetings and events as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
