Job summary

Luna Community College seeks a part-time Government and Community Relations Liaison to advance legislative priorities and strengthen external relationships with government entities and community partners. The role reports to senior leadership and travels across New Mexico to engage stakeholders and monitor policy developments.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years in government relations or public affairs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years in government relations, public affairs, or community outreach.
  • Experience with NM Legislature or state government preferred; higher education experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advance Luna’s state and local legislative and governmental priorities.
  • Serve as liaison with NM legislators, staff, agencies, officials, and partners.
  • Monitor legislation, regulatory changes, and budget developments; brief leadership accordingly.
  • Coordinate meetings, campus visits, and government engagement activities.
  • Support advocacy for appropriations, capital outlay, policy priorities, and institutional needs.
  • Prepare briefing materials, testimony, presentations, and talking points for government audiences.
  • Maintain and strengthen priority community relationships identified with the President.
