Job summary

The University of Chicago’s Development Innovation Lab seeks a Policy & Communications Associate to translate complex economics research into clear policy content and manage digital communications. You will update the DIL website, manage social media, coordinate with researchers and leadership, and help produce policy materials, events content, and donor communications.

You will collaborate with internal teams to align messaging, track engagement metrics, and strengthen content production

Qualifications

• Education: college/university degree required.
• Work Experience: 2–5 years in a related discipline.
• Certifications: —
• Preferred: degrees in economics, public policy, communications, journalism or related field.
• Experience translating complex research into plain-language policy content.

Responsibilities

• Update content on the DIL website regularly to be precise, accurate, and engaging for policymakers, partners, and donors.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop new digital features on the DIL site, including project and event pages.
• Plan and draft regular social media posts aligned with research results and organizational priorities, mainly on LinkedIn and X.
• Highlight students, staff, and alumni on digital channels and track engagement metrics to inform improvements.
• Disseminate event-related content via press releases, multimedia, and social platforms to boost external participation.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to produce polished policy materials and communications assets.
• Assist in creating donor communications, funding pitch decks, and reports as needed.
• Strengthen internal communications templates and trainings in collaboration with leadership.
