Job summary

The University of Chicago's Development Innovation Lab seeks a Policy & Communications Associate to translate complex research into accessible digital content and to expand the program's online presence.

You will coordinate content across internal teams and external channels, update the DIL website, and use analytics to maximize reach. This hybrid role offers collaboration with researchers and policy staff and opportunities to impact global development communications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher required; minimum 2–5 years in communications or related field.
Demonstrated ability to translate research into plain language for broad audiences.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress; CMS experience.
Coursework in economics/public policy or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Update DIL website content regularly for accuracy and clarity.
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop new digital features and project pages.
Plan and draft social media posts aligned with research results and updates.
Highlight students, staff, and alumni on digital channels with engaging content.
Develop and track metrics to assess website and social reach and impact.
Coordinate press releases and event content for US and international audiences.
Assist field teams in producing visual content with local photographers.
Write plain-language summaries of complex research for broad audiences.
Support donor communications, reports, and funding pitches as needed.
Strengthen internal content processes, templates, and training across teams.
