The Council of State Governments (CSG) is the nation’s only organization serving all three branches of state government. This opportunity is based in our Washington, DC office with flexibility to work from home part of the work week.

The Policy Analyst II will support federally funded projects focused on improving youth employment outcomes and workforce development across states, conducting research, writing policy analyses, and coordinating convenings.

Qualifikationen

• Three years of relevant and progressive work experience in state, local or federal government, or a public policy organization.
• Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, social policy or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of legislative, executive, and judicial processes, as well as workforce development systems and policies.
• Familiarity with federal and state workforce development policy and related initiatives.
• Experience tracking, analyzing and communicating state workforce and public policy developments.
• Experience with state legislative processes and procedures.
• Experience presenting technical policy to policymakers and stakeholders.
• Experience convening and collaborating with diverse partners, including public officials and employers.

Aufgaben

• Monitor policy developments at the state, federal and international levels.
• Develop, write, and compile reports and other research products for policymakers and the public.
• Plan, organize, and convene meetings and events.
• Coordinate with communications, external writers and consultants on reports.
• Travel overnight and for varying lengths as needed.
