Job summary

Odessa Police Department is seeking a detail-oriented Police Training Assistant to coordinate department training activities and maintain accurate, compliant training records. This role supports the professional development of OPD personnel and ensures training requirements are met.

Responsibilities include coordinating OPD training programs, updating training databases, handling travel reimbursements, and responding to training requests with strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience with computers and customer service required; training/education/public contact preferred.
• Background investigation and polygraph required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in standard computer software.
• Knowledge of TCOLE training standards and records management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate OPD training programs and maintain state-required training databases.
• Review, update, and maintain training records and prepare mandated training reports.
• Process travel reimbursement requests related to training activities.
• Respond to employee training requests while maintaining strict confidentiality of all records.
• Provide professional, courteous support to department staff and the public.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
