Job summary

City of Aubrey (TX) seeks a command rank police officer to coordinate the department's training program, planning and directing training activities and supervising personnel. This role ensures consistent interpretation of orders, policies, and laws while developing subordinates.

The incumbent oversees training records, maintains equipment, conducts classroom and field sessions, and researches best practices to create effective lesson plans for ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years as a sworn police officer.
• Internal candidates must meet Aubrey PD policy.
• External candidates must have five (5) or more years of sworn law enforcement experience exclusive of field training with a minimum of two (2) years as a police sergeant.
• Must be eligible for certification as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCOLE).

Responsibilities

• Coordinated overall training activities, plans, directs and manages personnel, resources, and training-related duties at the divisional level.
• Provides effective control and coordination of resources and activities within the shift or section.
• Coordinates all Department training and maintains training records and equipment.
• Facilitates classroom and field training sessions using lectures, simulations, and role-playing.
• Develops knowledge, skills, and abilities of subordinates to enhance their probability of success.
• Researches current police practices, techniques, and laws to develop lesson plans.
• Performs summary disciplinary investigations and provides coaching, counseling, and training as needed.
• Informs supervisor of all work activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
