Job summary

Maryland Capitol Police is seeking a Candidate Trainee to begin a path in law enforcement. You will attend the Police Training Academy to learn to enforce Local, State and Federal laws and departmental rules. The role requires readiness for duty at all hours and completion of pre-employment screenings.

Upon academy completion, you may advance through Officer I and Officer II levels, with assignments to divisions at the department's discretion and potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: None.
• Note: Educational requirement per Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission.

Responsibilities

• Trainee learns under close supervision and may be assigned various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Officer I works under close or general supervision and performs initial law enforcement duties.
• Officer II performs full duties under general supervision and serves in progressive responsibilities.
