Job summary

Maryland Department of Transportation is seeking an entry-level MDTA Police Officer Recruit to join its policing program. Recruits will be sworn to uphold laws across MDTA facilities and will complete a comprehensive training academy, with assignments across major toll facilities in Maryland.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 by academy completion, and must pass extensive background, medical, and drug screenings.

Qualifications

• Minimum U.S. citizenship required.
• Must be at least 21 years old by the time of MDTA Police Training Academy completion.
• Complete background investigation and physical agility test; polygraph required.
• Medical and psychological examinations may be required; drug testing mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Enforce laws and upholding safety on MDTA properties and facilities.
• Work under supervision and complete the MDTA Police Training Academy program.
• Serve as an essential employee with potential shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
