We do this through patrol, rapid response to calls for service, investigations, education, and implementation of preventative strategies. Our work, grounded in a community policing philosophy, utilizes campus partnerships as the most effective approach for ensuring a safe campus.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  1. Basic knowledge in the following areas: First Aid / CPR, campus streets, buildings, and parking lots, general law enforcement procedures, vehicle laws, use of firearms. (Preferred)
  2. Observes situations analytically, impartially, and objectively, and records pertinent information accurately and completely. (Required)
  3. Demonstrated verbal and written skills and the ability to interact with a diverse community. (Required)
  4. Possess a valid California Driver's License (Required)
  5. Must complete an accredited CA Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified police academy and obtain certification as a police officer. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent certification (Required)
  2. Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment
  1. Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  2. Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  3. Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  4. Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
  5. Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
  6. Reading Comprehension Test: A reading assessment will be conducted.
  7. CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
  8. Clery Act: The position is a designated CSA (Campus Security Authority) under Clery Act requirements.
