Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Three consecutive years as sworn law enforcement officer with Virginia DCJS certification.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license.
• Proficient with computers and alarm systems; uses sound judgment.
• Strong English communication and discretion in handling situations.
• Must be able to work day, night and holiday shifts.
• Completion of DCJS Basic Law Enforcement Course and In-Service courses.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise patrols, inspections, investigations and manage arrest/evidence reports.
• Testify in court and coordinate training programs.
• Plan and direct enforcement activities to meet dept goals.
• Ensure compliance with regulations; report violations to supervisor.
• Instruct subordinates on duties, discipline, appearance and proficiency.
• Supervise and train officers; prepare work schedules and enforce policies.
• Coordinate joint law enforcement efforts with other departments and investigations.
• Review and complete administrative reports; assist with budgeting and equipment requests.
