Job summary

The Truckee Police Department seeks a Police Sergeant to lead sworn and non-sworn personnel across patrol, investigations, traffic, and related operations within a close-knit mountain community.

Under direction, you will plan, schedule, assign, review, and supervise staff; coordinate with other Town departments and outside agencies; participate in budget preparation, training oversight, and public relations while ensuring safety and high service levels for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising sworn and non-sworn staff.
• Ability to plan, organize, and supervise law enforcement operations.
• Strong communication and community relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of sworn and non-sworn staff.
• Oversee patrol, investigations, traffic, and related operations; respond to major incidents and emergencies.
• Coordinate with other Town departments and outside agencies; manage mutual aid and joint operations.
• Participate in budget preparation and administration; monitor expenditures and procurements.
• Oversee training requirements, staff development, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain public relations and communicate with media and community organizations.
