Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be at the current rank of Police Sergeant with the Anchorage Police Department, currently off probation for their current assignment, or will be off probation by the end of the certification list.
• Must be able to perform all functions of a Police Officer.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the activities of officers on an assigned shift or within an assigned unit, including briefings, inspections, and duty assignments.
• Manage major crime scenes and tactical situations, review case reports, and maintain duty rosters.
• Investigate complaints against subordinate officers and prepare performance evaluations.
• Attend meetings with community councils, neighborhood and business partnerships, and governmental/non-governmental agencies to address APD-related issues.
• Conduct planning, implementation, and enforcement for department homeless strategy.
