University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking a Police Officer to provide comprehensive law enforcement services on campus, protecting the university community and enforcing state, local, and university laws.

Qualifications

• Three years of law enforcement experience.
• Civil Service test scores for the 2100-Protective Services Exam (PSE) are required to be considered, unless exempted by Civil Service rules.

• Active POST certification may be required.
• Disqualifying felony conviction or ongoing felony indictment disqualifies an applicant.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shifts of patrol officers.

• Traffic enforcement that may include the use of radar/LIDAR.
• Enforce DWI, narcotic, criminal, and University laws and regulations and investigate incidents.
• Respond to emergency calls for service within University jurisdiction.
• Serve on multi-agency task force for DWI and crime prevention.
• Gather and submit evidence as part of investigations and generate reports.
• Appear in court when subpoenaed.
• Protect dignitaries and VIPs within the University jurisdiction.
• Recertify annually to maintain Louisiana POST requirements.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
• Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
• An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

• Respond to emergency calls for service within University jurisdiction.
• Serve on multi-agency task force for DWI and crime prevention.
• Gather and submit evidence as part of investigations into violations of local, state, and University regulations.
• Generate reports regarding calls for service.
• Appear in court when subpoenaed.
• Protect dignitaries and VIP's within the University jurisdiction.
• Recertify annually to maintain certifications regarding Louisiana POST requirements.
