• Police Officer 1: No experience required.
• Police Officer 2: One year of experience in law enforcement work.

• Current Salary Police Officer 1: $18.58/hr SER
• Current Salary Police Officer 2: $19.88/hr SER

Test Requirements

Applicants must have a current Civil Service test score for 2100-PSE-Protective Services Exam for Law Enforcement in order to be considered for this vacancy unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• One year of law enforcement experience.
• EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
• NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
• Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
• An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
• NOTE: All classified jobs in State service with police officer and wildlife enforcement titles qualify as law enforcement.
• Jobs outside State service that will qualify as law enforcement are those performed while commissioned with the power of arrest.
• Military police in the armed services are law enforcement; security/guard duty is NOT qualifying.
• NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
