Job Description

Supervises police officers on an assigned shift and enforcesuniversity regulations and city and state laws as they apply touniversity property.

• Performs routine to complex assignments using existingprocedures
• Conducts investigations, providing input and oversight asnecessary
• Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilitiesand makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, asnecessary
• Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems
• Researches and analyzes information and uses standard practices tomake informed judgments and recommendations
• Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieveobjectives and meet deadlines
• Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions, and checksfor audience understanding
• Develops working relationships with internal parties and may workwith external parties, as needed
• Remains objective when handling various situations
• Tactfully handles sensitive information
• Assigns and reviews the work of other officers
• May mentor (or supervise as needed) others in completingduties
• Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, andprocedures within the Institutional Safety function

Shift

40 hours, rotating shifts

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparableknowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Must obtain andmaintain Missouri POST certification in accordance with currentstate requirements. Certification may be required prior toappointment and is mandatory once employed.

A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience, and at least 5 years of experience from whichcomparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$25.95-$35.00
