The University of Missouri-Saint Louis is seeking a Police Sergeant in St. Louis for a full-time, rotating shift role. The position includes conducting investigations, overseeing assignments, and improving efficiency within the Institutional Safety function.

Minimum qualifications require a Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus at least 2 years of experience and Missouri POST certification with a valid driver's license; a Bachelor's with more experience is preferred.

Job Description

• Performs routine to complex assignments using existing procedures
• Conducts investigations, providing input and oversight as necessary
• Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, as necessary
• Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems
• Researches and analyzes information and uses standard practices to make informed judgments and recommendations
• Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
• Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions, and checks for audience understanding
• Develops working relationships with internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed
• Remains objective when handling various situations
• Tactfully handles sensitive information
• Assigns and reviews the work of other officers
• May mentor (or supervise as needed) others in completing duties
• Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within the Institutional Safety function
• Applies general knowledge developed through education and experiences

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Must obtain and maintain Missouri POST certification in accordance with current state requirements. Certification may be required prior to appointment and is mandatory once employed.
A valid driver's license is required.

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$25.95-$35.00
