Job summary

NACBA, a San Francisco Bay Area boutique litigation firm, seeks a 3–5 year associate to join our Police Practices/Public Entity Defense practice. We represent municipalities, public agencies, and their employees in complex civil matters in state and federal court, offering meaningful responsibility and a path to develop a sophisticated defense practice.

Qualifications

3–5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense/public entity practice.
Experience defending law enforcement agencies or personnel preferred.
Federal motion-writing experience is required, incl. dispositive motions.
Federal judicial clerkship or similar court experience strongly preferred.
Public sector experience with government agency or public entities is a plus.
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
Active license to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

Involved in all stages of litigation: case evaluation, discovery, depositions, motions, settlement, and trial preparation.
Work closely with experienced trial lawyers and develop substantial responsibility in federal and state court.
Represent municipalities, public agencies, and their employees in high-stakes civil matters.
