Sacbar, a San Francisco boutique litigation firm, seeks a 3–5 year associate for its Police Practices/Public Entity Defense practice to represent municipalities and public agencies in complex civil litigation in federal and state court.

Candidates with government experience, public-entity defense, or judicial clerkships are strongly preferred; federal motion-writing and strong research/writing skills are required.

Qualifications

• Three to five years civil litigation experience in defense or complex litigation.
• Experience defending law enforcement or public entities is preferred.
• Federal motion-writing experience is required.
• Federal judicial clerkship or court experience preferred.
• Public sector experience a plus.
• Active license to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

• Involved in all stages of litigation: case evaluation, discovery, depositions, motion practice, settlement, trial preparation and trial.
• Work closely with partners and associates and advise clients with clear, persuasive analysis.
• Hybrid work arrangement with regular work in the San Francisco office; not a 100% remote position.
