Job summary

City of Longmont is seeking Police Officer Trainees (Recruits) for a July 2027 start and an August 2027 sponsored academy. The City pays for academy tuition while you earn your full salary during training, with a Colorado POST certification upon completion.

Starting annual salary is $90,804 ($43.65/hour), with a structured path from recruit to Master Police Officer, and a take-home vehicle program after Field Training. Various benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 60 college credits; waiver available to complete education within five years.
• Must be at least 21 years old by hire date; valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to pass background, psych, medical, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete a Colorado POST‑approved police academy.
• Learn law enforcement procedures, report writing, emergency response, and officer safety.
• Develop skills to serve and communicate effectively with the community.
• Transition from academy training into Field Training and become a sworn Longmont Police Officer.
