Summary
Under direct or general supervision, aPolice Officer Trainee performs a variety of non-sworn law enforcement duties and attends basic law enforcement training (BLET) in preparation for employment as a Police Officer I with the Lexington Police Department . Upon graduation of BLET and completion of all NC state law enforcement requirements will perform responsible work as Police Officer I to provide for public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations. This is not a sworn position. This is an FLSA non-exempt 7(k) position. Check out the great benefits the City has to offer.
Minimum Qualifications
•Education equivalent to graduation from high school and current enrollment in Basic Law Enforcement Training.
•Valid NC driver’s license and good driving record;
•Minimum age of 20 years.
Work Schedule
Following BLET; rotating 12 hour shifts; 4 on 4 off. Paid bi-weekly.
