Position: Campus Police Officer (Full Time Days)

Summary

The Campus Police Officer is responsible for protecting persons and property in and around the Medical Center. Key duties include patrolling the campus, responding to emergencies, and ensuring safety and security for staff, patients, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor activities in and around the medical center campus, including parking lots and loading docks, to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and vagrants.
  • Provide surveillance and protection for patients, staff, visitors, and property.
  • Question unauthorized persons and prevent escalation of security incidents and disturbances.
  • Enforce hospital policies such as loitering, smoking restrictions, and removal of hospital property.
  • Report malfunctions in heating, plumbing, electrical systems, and exterior lighting.
  • Respond to assistance calls and protect individuals during conflicts or confrontations.
  • Attempt to resolve situations and call for backup if needed.
  • Subdue or restrain individuals as directed by medical personnel or in accordance with policies.
  • Transport valuables securely and document transactions.
  • Respond promptly to emergency codes and disaster situations, following department policies.
  • Maintain a clean and professional work environment, including security vehicles.
  • Control access to urgent care areas and enforce visitation policies.
  • Keep accurate records of activities and incidents.
  • Provide escort services and security for staff and visitors.
  • Perform off-site runs when authorized.
  • Participate in training and adhere to shift duties and policies.
  • Monitor activities around emergency department grounds and enforce access controls.
  • Photograph patients upon request from authorized medical personnel.
  • Follow restraint and seclusion policies when intervening with patients.

Qualifications

- High School diploma or GED

- Completion of Ohio Peace Officers Training (required)

- Valid Driver's License
