This position is responsible for initial and ongoing training and competency of the unlicensed assistive clinical staff roles (ie. Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Patient Safety Companions (PSC)) related to the performance of clinical skills & procedures according to Standard Policy and Protocols.. Under the direction of the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) leader and team and in conjunction with market nursing leadership, this role implements training and competencies on quality initiatives, key performance indicators (KPIs) and incorporating quality standards into daily work. The clinical trainer assists in conducting evaluation and measurement of associates understanding and competence with all applicable clinical procedures. Collaborates with the market nursing team to coordinate the implementation and evaluation of educational and quality programming for the Springfield Market. Focuses on establishing productive relationships and achieving expected outcomes of educational activities.
Essential Job Functions
· Assesses and trains new unlicensed clinical associates to perform patient care duties within BSMH standards and regulatory requirements to include ensuring effective documentation in the electronic health record. (
· Collaborates with and provides feedback to nursing leadership to ensure associate successfully completes pertinent clinical competencies under the direction of the NPD leader and team.
· Collaborates with NPD team to implement annual associates training and competencies completion. Assists with development of skills check lists.
· Routinely rounds and works collaboratively with unlicensed clinical staff and the nursing leadership team to identify performance data for key quality indicators and helps develop improvement plans.
· Collaborates with the NPD team to develop and deliver training and presentations and performs required applicable in-service education at each care delivery site on new workflows or initiatives.
· Collaborates with NPD and nursing leadership to analyze quality results and deliver education and workflows for unlicensed clinical staff, using continuous quality improvement processes and models.
· Serves as a resource to support electronic healthcare record documentation for unlicensed clinical staff.
· Collaborates with the NPD and nursing leadership team to ensure compliance with regulatory agency clinical standards.
· Assists nursing leadership with the process and preparations to help ready work units for and during inspections and onsite visits from regulatory agencies.

Patient Population
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Geriatric, 65 years and older
Required Minimum Education: High School graduate with training as STNA or CNAor LPN
Specialty/Major: Health Care
Preferred Education: 2 Year/ associate degree
Specialty/Major: State Tested Nursing Assistant, Nursing, Education, Training and Development or similar field.
Licensure/Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Minimum of five (4) years of hospital nursing assistant practice experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Demonstrated ability in project management and leading quality and process improvement initiatives. Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office Must possess excellent problem-solving, data aggregation and analysis skills. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with both leaders and associates. Classroom facilitation and presentation.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Epic experience strongly preferred.
