Job summary

The Seaside Police Department offers a non-sworn trainee position to enter a POST-based training program in which you will be trained at a basic academy to develop the skills and fitness needed for police service under supervision.

Candidates must meet minimum qualifications, be 21, hold a valid California driver’s license, and pass the POST PELLETB 42 and WSTB 320 within the last year; a comprehensive background check and panel interview follow the tests.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Current, valid California driver license with a safe driving record.
• Must be 21 years old at time of appointment to Police Officer.
• Pass the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) with a score of 42; PASS the WSTB with 320 within the last 12 months.
• Physical health and agility to meet job demands as per POST guidelines.
• Meet POST vision guidelines (color, binocular, peripheral).
• Psychological suitability via required exams.

Responsibilities

• Attend POST basic police academy to be trained in knowledge, skills, and physical capabilities required to perform police service.
• Perform related duties as required under supervision.
• Trainees may be assigned non-safety duties such as assisting in prevention, collecting information, and transporting people/materials.
