Job summary

The City of Vernon is recruiting for an entry-level Police Officer Recruit to participate in the CA POST training academy and obtain certification. This continuous recruitment supports future vacancies in the Vernon Police Department.

Selected candidates will undergo classroom instruction, physical conditioning, and examinations, with potential progression to a sworn officer role upon successful training and background clearance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 21 years old upon academy graduation.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for citizenship per CA Government Code.

Responsibilities

• Attends classroom training sessions and notes required for POST certification.
• Completes written, oral and skills proficiency exams for required Peace Officer skills.
• Participates in physical conditioning training and maintains fitness.
• Adheres to CA POST academy rules and regulations.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
