Job summary

Mesa Police Department is seeking Police Officer Recruits who will attend the Department Academy to learn the responsibilities of an entry-level peace officer. Upon successful completion of academy instruction and field training, recruits are promoted to Police Officer and may receive designated incentives for degree holders.

The selection includes written exercises, a Cooper's Test fitness evaluation, and a comprehensive background process including a polygraph and medical screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 21 years of age by graduation from Police Academy.
• Vision requirements per AZPOST standards.
• Valid Class D Arizona Driver's License by hire date.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Attend Mesa Police Department Academy to learn entry-level peace officer duties.
• Perform patrol, investigations, and enforcement after academy and field training.
• Possess discretion, interact with diverse populations, and respond to emergencies with minimal supervision.
