The City of Englewood is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Police Officer. Candidates must have a Colorado P.O.S.T. certification and a strong commitment to community safety. Responsibilities include patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, and conducting investigations. An online application and the Police Officer Written Exam (NTN) must be completed in order for your application to be accepted.

The applicant is responsible for all fees associated with transferring previous scores to the Englewood Police Department. Please let us know if you need assistance with the cost of the testing, or transfer of the NTN exam scores.
Testing services for the position of Police Officer are conducted through the National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select 'Find Jobs', at the top of the page, then select Law "Enforcement Jobs" and scroll down to select the Englewood Police Department.
Once selected, you can complete the NTN registration process and schedule your NTN exam. Prior to taking the online exam, you must review the qualifications, select a response at the bottom of the page and select continue.
After you complete the testing process through NTN your exam scores will automatically be forwarded to the Englewood Police Department. Candidates who attain a passing score on the NTN exam, and meet all other agency requirements, will be placed on the agencies eligibility list to be contacted for further hiring steps in the process.

All candidate results are provided to the Englewood Police Department where the final decisions are made.
Once you have successfully completed the application and the NTN exam, you will be contacted via email with further instructions and testing information. This email may take some time as we schedule testing based on the number of eligible applicants we receive. Qualifying lateral entry applicants will be hired at the Police Officer 1st class salary. To qualify as a lateral entry officer, you must meet the current hiring standards listed below :
POST certified applicants with less than 3 years patrol experience will be paid the Probationary Police Officer salary and will move to Police Officer 1st class salary with 5 years of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education : High school graduate or equivalent and 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited university or college of college credit. A minimum of 3 years as a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer serving in a patrol capacity may be substituted in lieu of the college credit requirement. 3 or more years active-duty military service with an Honorable Discharge may be substituted in lieu of the college credit requirement.

Work Experience : Depending on qualifications and experience.
Certifications and / or Licensures : Colorado P.O.S.T. certification, currently enrolled in a Colorado P.O.S.T. approved academy, or out of state Police Officer that is fully certified in another state and have served for a minimum of one year within the last three years (will qualify for a provisional Colorado POST certificate).
Required Driver's License : Valid Colorado driver's license or valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of residing in Colorado. Clear or acceptable MVR
