The City of Hemet is accepting continuous applications for a Lateral Police Officer position with a hiring bonus eligibility. Eligible applicants must be a California full-time police officer with at least three consecutive years of street/patrol experience at a California POST-certified agency.

Required are a valid Class C California Driver License and successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, fingerprinting, and medical examination

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of street/patrol experience at a California POST-certified Police or Sheriff's Department.
• Must possess a valid Class C California Driver License.
• Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, a polygraph examination, a psychological evaluation, fingerprinting, and a medical examination with pre-employment drug screening.

Hiring Bonus Eligibility Requirements:

• An applicant must be employed as a California full-time police officer with at least three (3) consecutive years of street/patrol specific experience at the time that the applicant submitted a job application to the City for the Lateral Police Officer position.
• Three (3) years of experience as a full-time police officer must have occurred at a California POST-certified Police or Sheriff's Department. The following types of experience do not count toward the prerequisite.
• Street/Patrol experience from an agency outside of California.
• Prior experience as a military police officer.
• Prior experience as a correctional officer.
• Prior experience as a sheriff's deputy working at a county jail or state prison.
• No break in service

Special Requirements:

Applicants must: (1) Possess a valid Class C California Driver License; and (2) Successfully pass a thorough background investigation, a polygraph examination, a psychological evaluation, fingerprinting, and a medical examination which will include a pre-employment drug screening.
