Job summary

The City of Wilmington, NC is hiring a Full-time Certified Police Officer. You will respond to calls, investigate crimes, and support events while maintaining community safety. You may work varied shifts, with potential overtime and emergency call-backs.

Qualifications include U.S. citizenship, a valid driver's license, and NC BLET or transfer-compatible LE experience. A living wage increase has been approved and salary posted accordingly.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• NC BLET certification or active enrollment with graduation within 6 months, or equivalent out-of-state LE experience with transfer rules.

Responsibilities

• Respond to citizen calls for service and provide a visible, reassuring presence.
• Investigate crimes, conduct security/traffic operations, and support special events.
• Operate communications systems and complete detailed documentation in varied environments.
