Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Police Department is seeking a probationary Police Officer to safeguard lives and property on campus. The role includes patrol duties, law enforcement, emergency response, report writing, and event control, with a schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• One year of law enforcement experience.
• Experience substitution: every 30 semester hours earned substitutes for one year of experience.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
• POST certification may be required.
• An applicant with a felony conviction or indictment will be disqualified.

Responsibilities

• Protects lives and property through active patrols and investigations.
• Responds to emergencies and renders assistance as required.
• Prepares reports on activities.
• Provides crowd and traffic control at events; may use force to make an arrest or restore order.
• Provides first aid and emergency services.
• Operates police network computers and dispatches officers.
