Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform the duties of an armed peace officer.
  2. Conduct field investigations, initiate and execute detentions, make arrests, issue citations, write reports, obtain warrants, conduct searches, transport prisoners, and testify in court.
  3. Provide armed vehicular and foot patrol within jurisdiction.
  4. Respond to emergency and service calls.
  5. Enforce state and federal laws, local ordinances, and organizational regulations.
  6. Control crowds and manage traffic.
  7. Restrain violent or resistant individuals under medical supervision; transport violent criminals.
  8. Observe and report criminal activity and safety hazards.
  9. Maintain accurate records.
  10. Perform duties legally and sensitively while maintaining positive public relations.
  11. Perform related responsibilities as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to obtain a Georgia driver's license within 30 days.
  3. Ability to complete Georgia P.O.S.T. basic peace officer certification if not already certified.
  4. Insurable driving record.
  5. Proficiency with a handgun and other required weapons.
  6. Pass a background check, drug screen, and psychological exam.
  7. Preferred: an accredited associate's degree or equivalent coursework.
  8. Additional: experience as a peace officer, military service with honorable discharge, or certification as a peace officer in any state.

Note: Position tasks are required to be performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this policy with notice.
