Qualifications

• Current POST license, or eligible to be licensed by March 31st 2027, or for out of state candidates meets reciprocity requirements.
• Valid MN driver's license (or ability to obtain within 60 days of appointment).
• Eligible to carry firearm in Minnesota.
• Ability to present evidence and offer credible testimony in court.
• Physically capable of performing essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Apply the department's community policing philosophy and utilize the SARA model effectively.
• Pro-actively patrol an assigned geographic area and engage with community leaders.
• Respond to distress or emergency calls, administer first aid, and investigate traffic accidents as required.
• Enforce city ordinances and state and federal laws in a fair manner.
• Make arrests and transport prisoners according to policy; present testimony in court.
• Investigate complaints, collect evidence, and preserve integrity of scenes.
• Prepare clear and accurate reports in accordance with policies.
• Serve warrants, subpoenas, or other court functions as required.
• Provide counsel, guidance, and service to the public to build community trust.
• Demonstrate teamwork and coordinate with supervisors and colleagues.
