Job summary

California State University, Sacramento is seeking a Police Officer Cadet (Non-represented) to participate in a POST-certified academy and to develop the qualifications necessary to become a sworn officer. Cadets operate in a trainee capacity under close supervision and may assist experienced officers while learning report writing, fitness, firearms, and arrest techniques.

Appointments are temporary, typically not exceeding seven months, with a anticipated hiring range of $5,500 per month.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and eligibility to attend a certified P.O.S.T. basic training academy.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of completion of the Police Academy.
• Eligible to be a peace officer in the State of California and to obtain a P.O.S.T. Certificate of Eligibility or possess a P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate in good standing.
• Valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Attend POST-certified academy to qualify for sworn officer duties.
• Assist other police officers under close supervision during training.
• Receive instruction in report writing, physical fitness, firearms use and maintenance, and arrest techniques.
