Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old at the time of appointment.
• US Citizen or US Citizen prior to appointment.
• Vision: uncorrected 20/100 or better in each eye; corrected to 20/30 when wearing glasses or contacts.
• Normal hearing acuity.

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in a Basic Police Academy for ~5 months.
• Learn Penal Code, Vehicle Code and related laws for protection of life and property.
• Learn basic criminal investigation procedures and evidence collection.
• Receive firearm training and instruction in enforcement psychology and writing/speaking.
• Learn radio operations and police information systems; assist in field observations.
• Assist in processing, packaging, labeling, storing and destroying property and evidence.
