Job summary

The City of Yuma Police Department is seeking motivated individuals to join Team Yuma as Police Officers (Non-Certified). Selected candidates will attend an AZPOST Law Enforcement Academy to obtain certification and will continue field training after academy completion.

Pay starts at $31.3601 per hour for non-certified applicants with a structured selection and hiring process, including exams, background checks, and medical screening.

Qualifications

• Citizen of the United States.
• 21 years of age by academy graduation date.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Must be in sound medical, physical, and mental health.
• Vision 20/20 uncorrected or corrected as specified; color vision sufficient.
• Meets AZ POST and YPD drug standards.
• Pass a comprehensive background investigation including a polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Acquire knowledge of police methods, practices, procedures and techniques.
• Interact with diverse populations; exercise discretion; maintain public order; prevent crime.
• Conduct investigations; make arrests; assist the public.
• Learn from structured lectures and training materials.
• Participate in physical conditioning training and testing and maintain fitness.
