Qualifications

  • Must have completed a certified police academy (PTI or equivalent) with 400+ hours.
  • Must maintain state, county and municipal licensing for armed security.
  • Proof of off-duty work with a police department is required before hire.
  • Off-duty employment must be approved by the supervising agency.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to unusual or emergency situations at PAH using escalating force protocols.
  • Observe, report activities and incidents to ensure security of PAH property, staff, patients and visitors.
  • Perform periodic patrols of the Emergency Department and waiting areas to maintain safety and order.
  • Preserve order and enforce laws, regulations and directives for staff, patients, visitors and premises.
  • Maintain logs/records and complete annual computer-based training (CBLs).
  • Assist in de-escalation tactics when required.

Job Description Summary

This position is under the direct supervision of the PAH Security Supervisor. This position is responsible for assisting the PAH Emergency department, PAH Security Staff, for the protection and safeguarding, safety, and security of assets, property, personnel, patients, and all visitors within the PAH emergency department and hospital in general. Perform all appropriate related and unrelated duties, as directed. This is a Physical position security position. Embodies the Memorial Health System performance Excellence of Standards of Safety, Courtesy, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Education
  • Must have successfully completed a certified police academy, (PTI or Equivalent), 400 plus hour, Law enforcement academy.
  • Attend orientation and complete required CBL’S Licensure/Certification/Registry:
  • Must be able to maintain any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed police/security work and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.
Experience
  • Must maintain employment with local municipal, city, county, or state police department in good standing, and must be approved by Supervising agency for off duty work utilizing police department equipment (i.e uniforms, weapon, and vehicle, if issued) Proof of off duty work required before hire.

  • Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons.
Responsibilities

Responds to unusual or emergency situations at PAH using the appropriate escalation of force level up to, and including, armed response by following established protocol. Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of PAH property, staff, patients, and visitors. Makes periodic tours thru the Emergency Department for irregularities and monitors traffic to and from the Emergency room, thus allowing the required amount of visitor’s access to the Emergency room unless unusual circumstances exist. Preserves order and acts to enforce laws, regulations, and directives pertaining to staff, patients, visitors and premises. Patrols the emergency department and waiting room areas looking for any unsafe conditions, Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to PAH Security dispatch or Jacksonville Police Department as needed. Maintains Logs and records as needed. Complete assigned computer based learning (CBL’S) annually. Prepares and distributes visitor badges ensuring that only two visitors at a time are allowed into Emergency room unless directed otherwise. Assist PAH Security in De-Escalation tactics if required. Performs other related work as required or requested.
