Job summary

The Staunton Police Department is seeking a qualified candidate to join the force and enter the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy to begin the required training. You will sign a 3-year employment contract with the City of Staunton and prepare to complete the POWER Test on the specified date.

Successful candidates must be eligible for licensure, reside within 30 miles of the city, and commit to the academy timeline starting January 4, 2027 and ending April 23, 2027.

Qualifications

• Be 21 years of age.
• Have no felony convictions.
• Possess a valid Illinois Driver's license and FOID card.
• Live within 30 miles of City Limits within 6 months after hiring.

Position Details

The Staunton Police Department is currently accepting applications for a successful candidate to attend the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy (SWIC) in Belleville Illinois.

Job Type: Full-time

The successful candidate must sign a 3 year employment contract with the City of Staunton and successfully complete the POWER Test on December 1, 2026.

The academy will start on January 4, 2027 and finish on April 23, 2027.

The candidate will be required to stay on campus during the academy.
