Introduction

Position Purpose

Under various laws and policies, performs police activities that involve personal danger and adverse conditions. Responsibilities include service duties such as providing information, dispute resolution, property protection, crime prevention and investigation, arresting criminals, traffic management, and other public safety services.

Essential Duties

• Maintain patrols in assigned areas, engaging with residents and businesses, and maintaining community communication.
• Respond promptly to calls, resolve disputes, and address community complaints through peaceful means.
• Ensure community peace and security, respond to disturbances, and uphold civil obedience.
• Provide public assistance, promote crime prevention, and participate in community educational programs.
• Manage traffic flow, investigate accidents, enforce traffic laws, and ensure safety.
• Conduct investigations, protect crime scenes, perform surveillance, and follow up on cases.
• Enforce laws, make arrests, and issue citations.
• Complete reports and documentation timely.
• Testify in court and provide depositions.
• Maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, U.S. citizenship, minimum age of 21, high school diploma or equivalent, and at least 60 college credits within 5 years of hire. Official transcripts must be submitted if applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of Wisconsin and Racine laws and ordinances.
• High moral character and effective communication skills.
• Quick situational analysis and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions, work under stress, operate vehicles and firearms safely.

Disqualifiers

Convictions related to domestic violence, recent serious traffic offenses, or felonies will disqualify applicants.
