Job summary

WakeMed is hiring Police Officers to patrol campuses, ensuring safety for patients, visitors and teammates in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include responding to calls, detaining and processing incidents, assisting with patient transport, and supporting investigations using CCTV systems. Requires NC licensure, a high school diploma or equivalent, and Basic Law Enforcement Training; 2+ years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold NC law enforcement licensure.
• High School diploma or equivalent; accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training required.
• Minimum 2 years law enforcement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol WakeMed property to protect patients, visitors, staff, and facilities while enforcing applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
• Respond to criminal and non-criminal calls for service, assess situations quickly, and take appropriate action to reduce risk and maintain safety.
• Detain, arrest, and process criminal violations that occur on WakeMed property, completing all required reports, citations, and documentation.
• Assist with patient transport and subject control when individuals pose a risk to themselves or others, following North Carolina commitment procedures.
• Support investigations using WakeMed CCTV systems and operate departmental vehicles in compliance with state law and policy.
