Job summary

City of Lake Forest Park is seeking a Police Commander to partner with the Police Chief in shaping and sustaining the department’s future. The role requires a dynamic leader who can build trust with City leadership, elected officials, and neighborhoods while driving division programs and growth.

Ideal candidates will bring autonomous leadership, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex budgets, policies, and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related field required.
• CJTC Certification required or equivalent.
• Six years of full-time police officer experience with at least three years as a Sergeant or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead division programs and policy development for Patrol or Support Services.
• Oversee facilities, equipment, budgets, and audits within the department.
• Develop and implement department policies, procedures and training.
• Engage with community, city leadership, and partner agencies to address policing needs.
• Prepare periodic reports for Mayor, City Council and Administrator.
• Oversee budget processes and grant-related activities.
