Job summary

The City of Stockbridge is seeking a Police Captain to lead a division within the Police Department, assisting the Police Major with supervision and policy development. The role includes commanding major incidents, coordinating daily activities through supervisors, and ensuring compliance with departmental rules and regulations.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 10–12 years of law enforcement experience with at least 3 in a supervisory role, and must hold a Georgia

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Criminology, Criminal Justice or related field desired.
• Master's degree preferred for higher leadership.
• Ten to twelve years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience to include three years at supervisory level as Lieutenant or above.
• Certified Peace Officer under POST regulations; Georgia Driver's License.
• Pass pre-employment physical abilities test, medical and drug screen; satisfactory MVR and background check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a division and recommend/implement management policies.
• Coordinate daily division activities through subordinate supervisors.
• Maintain continuity of command by covering supervisory roles in absence.
• Inform Chief and Major of problems, services, and activities.
• Plan, organize, and direct department efforts; supervise major incidents and investigations.
• Serve as Incident Commander during critical incidents and coordinate with other agencies.
• Prepare reports and conduct data-driven reviews; develop policies and procedures.
