Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking an Administrative Captain within the Campus Police leadership to supervise security operations across the district. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and several years of supervisory experience in law enforcement or related fields.

The Administrative Captain acts as an executive adviser to the Chief of Police, aligns operations with SCCPSS policy and strategic plans, and represents the Chief in administrative matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience in law enforcement environment or related field; strong organizational and supervisory skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration or criminal justice administration (preferred).
• Possession of the Supervisory/Management Post Certificate or commensurate training and experience (required).
• Any additional certifications related to internal affairs investigations or accreditation processes would be advantageous (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manages Central Office Security, front desk, emergency communications, ID card system, and its personnel.
• Manage and oversee the department’s budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively across all operational, personnel, training, equipment, technology, and school safety functions.
• Manages the department’s quartermaster and procurement processes, including vendor selection.
• Oversees department fleet management and vehicle readiness; coordinates repairs and new vehicle purchases.
• Direct departmental operations and ensure policy/directive compliance.
• Prepare executive briefings and lead strategic initiatives, including policy development and KPIs.
• Maintain continuity of command during crises and high-demand operations.
• Provide administrative oversight of command staff and align with goals and standards.
• Oversee staffing, deployment, training, and readiness of personnel.
• Serve as administrative representative with district leadership and public safety partners.
• Provide command-level leadership during critical incidents and emergency activations.
• Coordinate district-wide emergency planning and continuity of operations.
• Ensure legal compliance and accreditation standards; maintain documentation accuracy.
• Liaise with local, state, and federal agencies to coordinate multi-agency operations.
