Job summary

Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) seeks candidates for the Cadet Police Officer I trainee program. Duties focus on training in vehicle safety inspections, traffic direction, and traveler information dissemination.

Cadets operate under supervision and are essential personnel with overtime/evening hours as required. Program emphasizes physical fitness, integrity, and progression to higher responsibilities within MDTA Police.

Qualifications

• Must be a United States citizen and between 18 and 20 years of age at hire.
• Must possess a Class C Maryland Driver's License valid in Maryland; include license number and expiration date on application.
• Candidates must satisfactorily complete polygraph and background investigations, pass entrance and physical exams, and undergo drug/alcohol testing.
• Subject to emergency call-back, overtime, and hours varying to maintain facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Receive instruction in commercial vehicle safety inspections and operation of mobile equipment.
• Assist travelers with information and directions; work outdoors in all weather conditions at inspection stations and roadways.
• As experience progresses, assume more responsible duties within MDTA Police Cadet program.
