Job summary

The City of South Bend Police Department is offering a Cadet Program, a non-sworn four-year apprenticeship. Cadets perform various non-sworn law enforcement duties, including equipment operation, report writing, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned by the Training Bureau.

Cadets rotate through department areas, work 20 hours/week during the school year and 40 hours/week in summer, and must be 18–23 with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Cadets must be 18–23 years old with a valid driver's license.
• Cadets must have graduated from high school and be enrolled to attend college in the next term.
• Cadets must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Cadets perform non-sworn Law Enforcement station/field duties, including equipment operation, report writing and administrative tasks.
• Cadets will be assigned to rotating areas of the department.
