Qualifications

  • Must have High School or GED equivalency.
  • Must have 2 years of previous experience in a public facing position with customer service.
  • Must be able to obtain a Level A Terminal Operator Certification from the Department of Public Safety within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Educate the public on compliance in area of assignment.
  • Investigate minor accidents and misdemeanor criminal violations.
  • Write reports, complete forms, and issue civil citations.
  • Utilize manual and mechanical traffic direction devices.
  • Walk around and navigate traffic collision sites and crime scenes.
  • Transport impounded items of evidence from crime scenes.
  • Frequently enter, exit, and drive departmental vehicles.
  • Provide motorists assistance, such as changing tires or jumpstarting vehicles.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).
  • Participate in training to increase personal protection and assault avoidance.
  • Willingly perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The City of Chandler Police Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Law Enforcement Senior Technician – Police Aide. This is a regular full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The Police Aides are required to work a 4/10 schedule, which may include being assigned to various shifts (i.e., days, swings, nights). The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.

Note:. A four-week Police Aide Academy is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2027, for any Police Aide recruits hired through this recruitment process.

Who we are

The City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 362 sworn officers and 177 civilians, serves a growing population of close to 287,945 residents. The organization is divided into three main divisions, one bureau, and many sections/units. The Patrol Operations Division consisting of three precincts, 1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler, 2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and 3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Division, Operational Support Division, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community. Minimum qualifications
  • Must possess a High School or GED equivalency.
  • Must have 2-year of previous experience working in a public facing position where customer service was essential; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Must be able to obtain a Level A Terminal Operator Certification from the Department of Public Safety within 6 months of hire.
Desired qualifications
  • Previous work experience in a public safety or law enforcement setting is desired
  • Previous work experience with law enforcement records, records management software, and database programs is desired
Supervision

Work is performed under the supervision of a division supervisor or manager. This position does not supervise others.

A register of qualified candidates will be active for 6 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
