Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Plant Welding Instructor to lead the welder training program at our Steele, Alabama plant. This role emphasizes hands-on instruction, classroom delivery, and strict adherence to welding codes and procedures.

You will train and evaluate Weld Technicians, oversee qualification testing, and promote safe practices across locations. Strong FCAW, SAW, SMAW experience and AWS certification reading required; bilingual Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on welding experience with multiple processes.
• Ability to present classroom and hands-on training effectively.
• Experience with AWS welder qualification tests and records.
• Safety culture and PPE compliance knowledge.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach and develop Welding Technicians to ensure safe, code-compliant welding practices.
• Provide hands-on and classroom welding instruction using approved procedures.
• Demonstrate welding techniques, joint prep, and equipment setup.
• Instruct on pole weld applications and repair standards.
• Evaluate weld quality and provide corrective feedback.
• Support welder qualification and re-certification testing.
• Reinforce standardized practices across pole school locations.
• Mentor welders to improve skill, consistency and workmanship.
• Promote safe welding practices and PPE requirements.
• Ensure training aligns with welding codes and specs.
• Drive weld quality improvements through skill development and throughput.
