Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to oversee Point of Care Testing across hospital and off-site locations. You will provide technical oversight for POC instruments and mentor staff to ensure competency and high performance.

You will coordinate with Laboratory, Nursing and Diagnostic Service teams, maintain QA/QC programs, and drive quality improvement initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification Required: Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification.
• ASCP BOC certification or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or related field.
• Typically requires 3 years of experience as a working laboratory professional.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and oversees Point of Care Testing within the hospital and off-site locations.
• Provides technical oversight for all POC testing and instrumentation; mentors staff.
• Serves as liaison between Laboratory, Nursing, and Diagnostic Service areas.
• Maintains POC Quality Assurance program and ensures orientation and competencies.
• Coordinates and oversees the Laboratory’s Quality program.
• Reviews quality data and participates in quality meetings; communicates findings to leadership.
• Identifies quality improvement opportunities and implements indicators.
• Oversees proficiency testing surveys and resolves issues identified post-results.
• Ensures compliance with Regulatory Agency requirements through programs and audits.
